The “Let’s Get Acquainted” curriculum is part of the Arabic language program for Hebrew schools. The program aims at increasing the knowledge and understanding of the Arab and Islamic world and by this recognition assist students in identifying the commonalities between themselves and their Arab neighbors.
The program is designed to provide the teacher practical tools to achieve the targets set out in the “Arabic Language” program – encouraging oral Arabic language expression, knowledge of the Arab world – religion and culture, and sensitivity to people with different cultural backgrounds and more.
The study program includes topics such as: Arab and Muslim countries, religions and religious committees in the Islamic world, Arabic culture and heritage, Arabic as a spoken language, multiple identities, what is shared and what is unique, agreements and disagreements and more.
The program is designed for all students in Jewish schools, is approved by the Textbook Department of The Ministry of Education and includes a Teacher’s Guide and student workbook for 7th grade.
