Diversity Training for Educators
Workshops and seminars on diversity in the teachers’ room, in the classroom and the school

Background
Schools are home to a large variety of identities, both of students and teachers. A high degree of diversity presents a major challenge for teaching staff, and in parallel an opportunity for creating more just spaces which enable everyone to realize their potential.
In order for a school to be a just environment that enables people of different identities to feel a sense of belonging and empowerment, the Merchavim Institute, with the cooperation of the Israeli Ministry of Education and the Mofet Institute, offers schools workshops and seminars on diversity.
Our workshops and seminars are empowering and instructive, and deal with diversity as part of the educational process.
The workshops are led by a diverse, experienced team in an engaging, creative way, which is specially suited to the target audience.
Workshops can be part of the seminar requirements of schools.

Objectives of workshops and seminars:
- Learning an ethical model of belonging and equality and achieving effective agreement in a school environment.
- Providing practical and emotional tools for effective professional management of diversity in school and in life.
- Hands on practice with tools for dealing with challenging situations in diversity.
- Discussion around the emotional aspect of diversity in the classroom.
- Creating greater understanding and openness to people from diverse backgrounds, through creating interaction and dialog between people from different backgrounds.
- Proving tools for dealing with explosive civil discourse in emergency situations and in times of security tension.
